The Optimist International Oratorical Competition is just around the corner. This year’s topic is “If I were Leader of the Free World, the First Issue I would Address would be….” – School level speeches will be judged in the auditorium on February 16, 17, and 18, 2011 during periods 2, 3, 5, and 6. Please see your English teachers for additional information.
Correia is looking for its Standout Speller for the upcoming San Diego Countywide Spelling Bee. Study groups will be taking place during 7th & 8th Grade Advisories in Room 605 on 1/24/11, 1/26/11, 2/2/11, 2/7/11, and the winner will be determined on 2/9/11. The winner will compete on 3/22/11 at Cygnet’s Old Town Theatre and the champion of this Countywide Spelling Bee will win an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. at the end of May to complete in the 2011 Scripps National Spelling Bee, compliments of the California State Lottery. The San Diego Countywide Spelling Bee is presented by the San Diego County Office of Education, along with The San Diego Union-Tribune, and the San Diego County Credit Union.
